At the north edge of the mine site lies the headwaters of Upper Talarik Creek, one of two major watersheds that could be affected by this project. This stream later joins Lake Iliamna and the Kvichak river, flowing over 100 miles to the ocean. This watershed hosts the world’s largest sockeye salmon run, as well as trophy-size trout and a number of other fish species. |
